Berry kicks off its third season Saturday, traveling to Maryville. The Scots hold a 2-0 series record over Berry.
However, the Vikings will be improved, simply by being a year older and stronger, coaches say. Head Coach Tony Kunczewski and his staff said they were pleased with the team’s recent intrasquad scrimmage.
Junior Dale Jackson has earned starting nod for the second straight year. Joining him in the backfield again is sophomore Jalen Tuggle.
For Maryville, three-year starting quarterback and senior Evan Pittenger will anchor the Scots’ behind center. In 31 career games Evan has completed 324 career passes and tosses 26 career touchdowns.
Running back Trenton Shuler returns for his junior season following a 1,000-yard campaign. Shuler has averaged over six yards per carry and 21 touchdowns in his career.
