Berry to host first game in new football stadium

Berry College will host the first-even football game in the school’s stadium on Saturday, hosting in-state foe LaGrange College.

The inaugural event at Valhalla is a sellout. However, the college has announced that blankets and folding chairs will be allowed for this game only.

LaGrange holds a 1-0 series lead, winning 28-27 in double overtime last year. However, Berry did defeat the LaGrage JV squad in 2013.

Last year for Berry, Dale Jackson threw for over 270 yards and had 4 touchdown passes. Jalen Tuggle had 75 yards on the ground and Chris Lilly had 141 receiving yards. LaGrange

Last week, the Vikings fell on the road at Maryville, 43-17.

Dale Jackson completed 19-of-40 passes for 146 yards for BC. He tossed two interceptions, but also completed a 19-yard touchdown pass to Chris Lilly (8 catches, 83 yards) in the third quarter.

Backup QB Tate Adcock teamed with Terrell Blakesleay for a 26-yard score in the final period for BC. On defense for the Vikings, Evan Breakspear collected eight tackles–including five solo stops–and two tackles for losses.

At Birmingham-Southern last week, LaGrange’s fell 29-28.

Junior Josh Hardrick caught three touchdown passes from sophomore Connor Blair, who was making his first start at quarterback. Hardrick tied the school record for touchdown receptions in a game. He finished with eight catches for 90 yards.
