Berry ends second season with loss to Southeastern

ROME, Ga. — Southeastern University defeated Berry College, 33-3, in BC’s final game of the season.

The Vikings ended their season 2-8 overall. The visiting Fire of the NAIA improved to 7-3.

Berry’s lone points came on a 27-yard field goal by Mitchell Blanchard–which cut the Fire’s lead to 6-3 in the opening quarter. Blanchard missed attempts from 52 and 44 yards.

Southeastern out-gained the Vikings 370 to 197 yards. Berry had three turnovers to the Fire’s one. Berry trailed in first downs, 18-17.

The Vikings had 106 net rushing yards in the contest. Quarterback Adam Sandin — subbing for injured Dale Jackson — led the way with 54 yards. Jalen Tuggle added 42 yards on 17 carries.

Sandin was 7-31 passing for 91 yards. He tossed one interception. Chris Lilly had 78 yards on five catches for BC.

On defense, Matt Farinella collected eight tackles with five solo stops for the Vikings. Matt Ogle had six tackles and one sack. Teammate Kreg Keiffer recorded an interception for the Vikings.

The Fire’s Jonathan Pearce ran 49 yards on six carries and collected two touchdowns. Trenton Lowery had a game-best 10 tackles for the Southeastern defense.
