LaGrange held on for a 28-27 victory in double overtime over in-state rival Berry when the Vikings failed to convert a two-point conversion that would have given them the win.
Berry took a 14-7 lead into halftime, but LaGrange tied the game at 14 when Graham Craig connected with M. Jackson on a 36-yard touchdown pass with 1:31 remaining in the third quarter to cap a five-play, 61-yard drive. Craig completed 38 of 51 passes for 374 yards and four touchdowns, but also threw a pair of interceptions.
In the first overtime, Berry scored first when Dale Jackson connected with Carsten Boehm on a four-yard touchdown pass. LaGrange followed up with an 11-yard touchdown pass from Craig to Jackson.
In the second overtime, Craig connected with Ervens Oge on a four-yard touchdown pass. Berry responded when Jackson connected with Trey Ciresi from four yards out to pull the Vikings to within one.
While Berry lined up for the extra point, holder Methus Weldon looked to connect with an open Alex Adams in the end zone, but the pass fell incomplete, giving LaGrange the victory.
LaGrange (2-0), who won a thriller in overtime last week, travels to Greensboro (0-2) next week. Berry (0-2) hosts Rhodes (2-0) on Sept. 27.
