SMYRNA, Ga. — Metro Atlantans on Thursday returned to some semblance of normalcy, two days after the metro region was socked by a winter storm that dumped just more than two inches of snow.
Meanwhile, Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal apologized for the state’s response. Motorists were stranded for hours as wet roads turned to ice, a problem exacerbated by motorists who abandoned their cars on roadways region-wide.
“I am not satisfied with the response,” The Atlanta Journal-Constitution quoted Deal as saying. “But I am not going to look for a scapegoat. I am the governor, and the buck stops with me.”

The Memorial Day holiday weekend is soon approaching. Colonel Mark W. McDonough, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Public Safety, said the 78-hour holiday patrol period will begin Friday, May 22 at 6 p.m. and end midnight on Memorial Day.
Closing arguments in the trial of a man charged with the November 2010 shooting death of a father outside a Dunwoody daycare are set to start Tuesday, according to news reports. Hemy Neuman is charged with murder in the Nov. 18, 2010, shooting death of 36-year-old Russell “Rusty” Sneiderman. Investigators say Sneiderman was shot and killed after dropping off his then 2-year-old son at Dunwoody Prep on Chamblee-Dunwoody Road. According to police, Sneiderman was getting
