Doctors at San Francisco General Hospital say a third person has died from injuries sustained in the crash of an Asiana Airlines jet at the city’s airport.
Hospital officials say the victim was a child who had been in critical condition since last Saturday’s crash. They have not released her identity or nationality. The flight originated in Shanghai and stopped in Seoul.
Earlier Friday, authorities confirmed that one of the other two victims, both Chinese teenagers, was run over by a fire truck rushing to the plane.
The crash landing of the Boeing 777 injured about 180 people, some critically.
U.S. government investigators say the jet’s landing gear hit a seawall at the end of the runway, causing the plane to skid.
The flight data recorder also shows the jet was traveling too slowly. The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation, but investigators appear to be focusing on pilot error.
