Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue has signed an executive order suspending a scheduled increase in gas taxes that would have taken effect on July 1.

The mayor of Atlanta is urging Atlantans to stay at home if at all possible as the city was brought to its keens following two inches of snowfall. Atlanta was pounded by two inches of snow on Tuesday, and the economic engine of the Southeast is expected to remain closed today and possibly tomorrow as officials grapple with how to clear highways return the city to normalcy.
