Franklin remembered as ‘stalwart defender of the Christian Faith’

When state Rep. Bobby Franklin, R-Marietta, passed away earlier this week, the state of Georgia lost “a stalwart defender of the Christian Faith,” the co-founder of the “Institute On The Constitution” said.

Michael Anthony Peroutka, the institute’s co-founder, called Franklin “a battle-tested promoter of the need to restore the Constitutional Republic through the reinvigoration of the Christian principles of the founding.”

“He was a true pro-life activist,” Peroutka said in a statement. “Bobby was a hero to the pro-life movement because he understood the importance of Godly principles and was willing to stand on them and take the consequences.”

Franklin was a lightning rod for criticism from liberals for his anti-abortion, pro-Second Amendment views, but conservatives were quick to laud Franklin for standing up for his views.

“Jane and I are very saddened to learn of Bobby’s passing,” state House Speaker David Ralston, R-Blue Ridge, said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends during this difficult time. Bobby was a man of principle and a dedicated public servant who held steadfast to his views. The Georgia House of Representatives will miss the gentleman from the 43rd district.”
