New Chattahoochee River pier opens for anglers

Anglers on the Chattahoochee River have a new place they can go to cast a line.

Georgia Power built a new fishing pier at its Morgan Falls Dam along the Cobb-Fulton County line.

“We are very pleased with the construction results,” Chris Martin, a Fisheries Management Region supervisor for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division said in a news release. “This pier is in a great location, it provides increased angler access — including handicapped access — as well as giving anglers great places to get to the fish.”

Construction of the new pier began in October and finished last week. The boat ramp in the area was unavailable during construction.

Morgan Falls Dam is a hydroelectric dam that was originally built in 1904.
