The Crackdown on Illegal Aliens

Cherokee County is taking a step to crack down on illegal aliens.

Last week, the county approved an ordinance requiring landlords to check the immigration status of people who want to rent property. The county also moved to make English the county’s official language.

“This is a first step of a local government stepping up to take care of a problem that is out of control,” Cherokee County Commissioner Karen Mahurin said, according to a report in the Cherokee Tribune.
