ABH: City limit sign’s claim somewhat off-Center

The city limits clearly are marked along the recently upgraded U.S. Highway 441.

Problem is, no one told the Department of Transportation the city of Center is, well, not a city. It’s merely an unincorporated area of Jackson County.

The signs along the busy thoroughfare used to say, “Center Unincorporated.” That was before crews realigned the road as part of a project to widen to four lanes the road that connects Athens and Commerce.

With the road’s new alignment through the area, crews installed new signs that say, “Center City Limits.”
