Officials in a pair of North Fulton County cities passed resolutions opposing the potential pullout of MARTA from the region.
At its Dec. 10 meeting, the Roswell city council unanimously passed a resolution opposing the pullout. Alpharetta leaders followed suit at a Dec. 17 meeting after sending a letter to MARTA on behalf of the mayor and city council.
Alpharetta and Roswell city officials raised concerns about the one percent sales tax in place to support MARTA. Although MARTA may vacate the region, residents will still pay the tax to support a service that has only one connection with the area: a park-and-ride lot on Mansell Road.
