The Denison University Art Gallery, located in Burke Hall, started off the 2000- 2001 Art Season. “Revenants (a story of many lives)” and “Projected Memories” are the two exhibits featured.
The exhibit opened this past Friday (Sept. 1). A reception for the artists will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday (Sept. 8).
The exhibit is open daily from 1 to 4 p.m. and continues until October 15th.
“Revenants (a story of many lives,” by Mark Hackworth and Patty Mitchell, is a collection of prints that has been traveling around the United States.
The collection, which was made possible through a special projects grant from the Ohio Arts Council, received an honorable mention at this year’s Ohio State Fair.
The prints served as the basis for a book that tells the stories of the people from “the canal district,” an area outside of Dayton. The poems and narratives in the book, created by Deni Naffziger and Jane Ann Fuller, are based on interviews and journals dating from 1840.
The book contains 36 historic photographs, 16 of which will be included in the Denison exhibit.
