2017 Athens Jewish Film Festival

March 18 - March 21

The Athens Jewish Film Festival will be kicking off the spring season from March 18-21. The festival will begin at Ciné in downtown Athens with a screening of the romantic comedy “Moo.” Following the film, there will be an opening celebration party at Hotel Indigo featuring hors d’oeuvres by local Athens restaurant home.made and music by DJ Andrew Byrd. 51st Blue Marlin Release Tournament

March 25 - March 27

Every year, dozens of boats set out to sea to participate in The Curaçao Yacht Club’s International Blue Marlin Release Tournament. This year’s event will crown the participant who can reel in the heaviest blue marlin. The annual tournament includes two full days of fishing and is run in accordance with the rules and regulations set by the International Game Fishing Association. The Southeastern Railway Museum will celebrate cabooses and the crews that called them home during Caboose Days to be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 1-2. The two-day event will feature temporary caboose tattoos, food, vendors and $2 rides on the museum’s restored antique handcar. 7th Annual Plantapalooza!

The 7th annual Plantapalooza!, held on April 8 will feature plant sales at three locations: the State Botanical Garden, The Trial Gardens at UGA, and the UGA Horticulture Club. 22nd Annual Classic City Brew Fest

2017 Seú Harvest Festival Parade

In April, more than 2,000 locals of all ages come together to celebrate the island’s harvest festival. Originally a festive march through the field, the seú is made up of graceful dance steps, called “wapa,” which mimic the movements used in planting and harvesting back in the 17th century.
