Overview
McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park in Scottsdale, Arizona, is a 30-acre public park devoted to railroad history, preservation and recreation. Its attractions include the 15-inch-gauge Paradise & Pacific Railroad, a 7-and-a-half-inch-gauge live steam railroad, model railroad displays and a railroad museum with historic equipment.
The park traces its origins to 1967, when Fowler McCormick and his wife donated land from McCormick Ranch to the city of Scottsdale for public use. Guy Stillman later brought his Paradise & Pacific Railroad to the site, helping shape the park’s railroad theme.
The park officially opened on Oct. 4, 1975, and was renamed McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park in 1996 to recognize Stillman’s role in its development. Among the park’s notable artifacts is Magma Arizona Railroad Engine No. 6, built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1907. The collection also includes a boxcar from the 1949 French Gratitude Train.
