Overview
First Church of Otago is a prominent church in Dunedin and the city’s primary Presbyterian church. The current church, in the Decorated Gothic style, stands on the stump of Bell Hill, a significant promontory that once divided the heart of Dunedin in half. Dr. Thomas Burns, the brother of Scottish poet Robert Burns, laid the foundation stone in 1868, but the church was not completed until 1873.
