SAS President & CEO Anko van der Werff will leave the company at the beginning of 2027 and will assume the position of chief executive officer of Air Canada.

Van der Werff, who joined SAS in 2021, will remain in his current role until his departure, and SAS will continue to operate according to its established plan, with a full focus on ongoing delivery and strategic progress. The company’s Board of Directors will initiate the process of appointing his successor.

SAS has undergone a significant transformation, including a comprehensive restructuring and a substantial strengthening of its financial and operational positions. During this period, SAS joined SkyTeam and marked its 80th anniversary.

The company has also advanced investments in products, connectivity and fleet, including the recently announced record order of up to 40 Airbus widebody aircraft, the largest fleet investment in SAS’ history, reinforcing long-term operational excellence and reliability.
