Two exhibits on display at the Smyrna Library

SMYRNA, Georgia — Two new exhibits are now on view in the wall and display cabinet areas on the second floor of the Smyrna Library.

Artist and author Kim Chesney is featured with her encaustic work, a technique that uses hot wax to create vibrant, layered pieces.

Her process starts with organic beeswax pebbles and fibrous papers from fig trees in Mexico and mulberry trees in Thailand. Using “lots and lots of electric fry pans” to control the wax, she finishes each piece with touches of color using oil pastels.

The display cabinet highlights artwork by attendees of the Chastain Arts Center, featuring ceramics, crocheted items, paintings, and more. The exhibit previews the center’s Artists’ Porch Sale on May 2.
