SMYRNA, Georgia — The Smyrna Fire Department responded to 8,234 incidents in 2025, with the bulk of the department’s workload tied to medical and rescue-related calls, according to its annual report.
Rescue calls accounted for 5,091 incidents, or well over half of the total. Within that category, the department logged 2,933 emergency medical treatment calls and 1,867 medical assists, underscoring the central role EMS plays in day-to-day fire service operations.
The department also handled 2,254 miscellaneous calls during the year. Those included 1,051 service calls, 988 good-intent calls, and 193 hazardous-condition responses. The report also listed 10 severe weather or natural disaster incidents and 12 special incidents.
Fire responses made up a smaller share of overall activity, with 115 fire incidents recorded in 2025. That total included 18 structure fires, 15 vehicle fires, 28 brush or grass fires, and 54 classified as other fires.
In addition, the department recorded 774 false calls, categorized as malicious or other false alarms.
Taken together, the numbers show a department whose call volume is dominated by rescue and medical responses, while still maintaining capacity for fire suppression, hazard mitigation and public safety support across the city.
