U.S. Central Command has revised upward the number of U.S. service members killed as part of Operation Epic Fury.
As of 4 pm ET on Monday, March 2, six U.S. service members have been killed in action. U.S. forces recently recovered the remains of two previously unaccounted-for service members from a facility that was struck during Iran’s initial attacks in the region. Major combat operations continue.
The identities of the fallen are being withheld until 24 hours after next of kin notification.
U.S. and partner forces began striking targets at 1:15 am ET on Saturday, Feb. 28, to take down the Iranian regime’s security apparatus, prioritizing locations that posed an imminent threat. Officials said that targets included Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps command and control facilities, Iranian air defense capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and military airfields.
