LAKE BUENA VISTA, Florida — Walt Disney World is planning to unveil a new color palette for the Magic Kingdom’s Cinderella Castle.
Since 1971, the 189-foot-tall Cinderella Castle has undergone several updates, including changes to its colors. Its current palette was revealed during the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Celebration.
Officials announced the latest change during the recent Destination D23, saying its appearance will feature vibrant new colors and renewed charm.
To create the latest palette, Walt Disney Imagineers examined the different overlays and tonal compositions used over the years. The new colors are inspired by the Castle’s original and classic appearance.
The updated colors will include shades of gray, cream, blue, and hints of gold to enhance its architecture. Additional details will be announced as the design and painting process details are finalized.
For more than 50 years, the colors on the landmark have been selected to reflect Florida’s sunshine, blending rich blues, warm hues and radiant golds. Officials said the finishes have been picked to ensure they remain vibrant and deep over time.
