SMYRNA, Georgia — The Smyrna Library will host a lecture on how to research a home’s history and what resources might be useful.
The lecture, titled “This Old House: Researching Your Home” and sponsored by Friends of Smyrna Library, is set for Sunday, Oct. 5, 2025, from 3 to 4 p.m. in the library’s meeting room.
Architectural historians Jennifer Corcoran and Rebekah Helfgot will guide attendees through uncovering the physical and social history of a home or neighborhood. They will present research on two Smyrna houses as examples and offer resources and strategies for attendees to start their own research journeys.
Corcoran, a longtime Smyrna resident, works as a National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) planner for Jacobs Engineering and holds degrees in heritage preservation and interior design. Helfgot, with AECOM, specializes in historic evaluations and surveys, and has earned degrees in historic preservation, anthropology, and history.
The program will include time for questions and will be followed by light refreshments. The Sunday Lecture series is sponsored by the Friends of Smyrna Library.
