The Mob Museum, the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, in Las Vegas is looking to the public for rare, original artifacts that capture the essence of the city’s Mob-era legacy.
Museum officials said they are particularly interested in acquiring distinctive, one-of-a-kind artifacts with compelling backstories and objects that capture the grit, glamour and underworld intrigue of Mob-era Vegas.
Desirable items could include glamorous showgirl costumes or well-preserved casino uniforms, musical instruments played by iconic entertainers, vintage vehicles driven by infamous mobsters, casino equipment used in illicit operations or personal belongings tied to legendary underworld and law enforcement figures.
“This is an exciting opportunity for the public to contribute to the cultural fabric of our community and see their treasured pieces of Las Vegas history preserved and become part of an accredited and award-winning Museum’s collection,” Geoff Schumacher, vice president of exhibits and programs for The Mob Museum, said in a release. “Artifacts will not only be showcased for the hundreds of thousands of guests who visit the Museum each year but also will help tell the story of an important chapter of our city’s history for generations to come.”
The call for artifacts is open through Aug. 31. The curatorial team will review all submissions, and individuals whose items are selected will be contacted directly.
