WalletHub releases 2025’s Best Frequent Flyer Programs report

With U.S. travel activity continuing to grow but fewer travelers making current plans, airfare savings are set to become increasingly important in the months ahead.

WalletHub has released its report on 2025’s Best Frequent Flyer Programs to help travelers make the best decisions for their wallets. The report ranks the 10 largest domestic airlines based on 21 key metrics, including the value of a point/mile and blackout dates for reward flights.

The personal finance site name Alaska Mileage Plan the best frequent flyer program of 2025, topping the list for the second consecutive year and narrowly beating out United MileagePlus for the overall title. The average airline rewards program saves frequent flyers roughly 8% on airfare, and these programs are all free to join.

However, only three of the 10 largest airlines offer more reward value in 2025 than in 2024. On average, the top 10 airlines offer 5% less value than last year.

Six of the 10 largest U.S. airlines allow program members to earn and redeem miles with partner carriers. Additionally, the JetBlue Plus Card has been named the best airline credit card of 2025 by WalletHub’s editors.

WalletHub’s report also features a custom calculator allowing travelers to personalize the results based on their budget.
