ATLANTA — Mayor Andre Dickens and Atlanta Urban Development announced the release of a Request for Qualifications to identify development partners for the redevelopment of Gun Club Park.

This decommissioned city park has remained vacant for more than 20 years.

Phase I of this redevelopment initiative marks a significant step towards transforming the former park—once a barrier and public safety concern—into an amenity-rich, mixed-income community. This thriving neighborhood will be connected to the rest of the city through an extensive trail network featuring parks and community facilities for residents and neighbors.

The project encompasses 44.1 acres to be developed over multiple phases. In alignment with the Gun Club Park Small Area Plan approved last year, the redevelopment will include an even split of homeownership and rental units, ranging from small-lot single-family homes to missing middle units and small apartment buildings.

The RFQ calls for 40% of rental units to be set aside as affordable to households, with a mix of units for households at 50% and 80% of the Area Median Income. The homeownership portion calls for 25% to be set aside at affordable prices.

The current plans include retaining 40% of the existing tree canopy.

RFQ responses are due by Feb. 14.
