Athens-Clarke County seeks input on downtown College Square Plaza redevelopment

Athens-Clarke County and Athens Downtown Development Authority officials are hosting two open house sessions to discuss downtown Athens’ College Square Plaza redevelopment.

The project, funded by $500,000 in TSPLOST funding and ADDA contributions, focuses on accessibility, seating, lighting, and stormwater upgrades. Officials expect to wrap the project by fall 2026.

The sessions will be held at the Dougherty Street Government Building Auditorium from 1–3 p.m. on Dec. 9 and from 5–7 p.m. on Dec. 17. Residents can also submit comments online until Jan. 3, 2025.
