Rockdale County apparently issues new shelter-in-place ask

Rockdale County has issued a new shelter-in-place order for Rockdale County, Atlanta officials said.

“We are aware and are assessing the situation,” Rockdale County said on its Facebook page. “The plume has consistently shifted throughout the night. We ask that you shelter in place if the plume moves over your vicinity or if there is a strong odor of chlorine. If you have respiratory issues, we encourage you to shelter in place. We will provide an update as quickly as possible.”

The Georgia Poison Center has created a hotline for calls relating to symptoms. Anyone with symptoms that may be related — such as nose, throat, or eye irritation, or difficulty breathing — should call their health provider or the Georgia Poison Center at 404-856-6252.

“There is no form of government that’s competent anymore this this is ridiculous,” one Facebook commenter posted on Rockdale County’s page. “There is probably unsafe levels of toxins in the air but the local government isn’t going to say that.”
