As part of the promotion, the group lowered gas prices at a Chevron in Dunwoody temporarily to $2.389 per gallon of regular unleaded gas, which the group said was the national average price per gallon in January 2021. Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp has extended a suspension of the state’s gas tax.

Kemp initially suspended the gas tax in response to Hurricane Helene. It was set to expire on Wednesday.

However, on Tuesday, Kemp extended a state of emergency for the state. His order extended the gas tax suspension until the state of emergency expires.

The state of emergency for Hurricane Helene was set to expire at 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday. Kemp’s order was extended for seven additional days.
