Disney Skyliner celebrates five years of transporting Walt Disney World guests

Disney Skyliner has transported millions of guests since it opened five years ago.

The aerial gondolas at Walt Disney World Resort debuted on Sept. 29, 2019. They connect Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the International Gateway at EPCOT and several Disney Resorts Collection hotels, including Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort and Disney’s Riviera Resort.

“Our guests love Disney Skyliner, and I’m so proud of all the cast members who welcome families every day to experience it,” Mark Natter, vice president of Transportation Operations, said in a release. “We’re moving guests with magic and making sure they have memories that last a lifetime.”

Disney Skyliner’s 300 gondolas have traveled more than one million miles since its launch. The aerial route covers nearly three miles with 50 towers and five guest-loading stations.

The gondolas travel at a top speed of 12 miles per hour, making the typical “fly time” between stations range from 5 to 15 minutes, depending on the route.

The Disney Skyliner station at International Gateway at EPCOT is conveniently located next to or just a short stroll away from Disney’s BoardWalk entertainment district, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Disney’s BoardWalk Inn.
