A bugle pierced the rainy morning as dozens stood at attention at the Bridge of Remembrance in the heart of Christchurch, New Zealand.
The entire town, it seems, came to a stop for a moment of silence to commemorate Armistice Day and the end of World War I.
The day and the war have such deep meaning here in New Zealand. No visit to the country is complete with at least a cursory study of the conflict.
I’m glad we were able to be here for what we “in the States” might call Veterans Day.
