Author Todd DeFeo will sign copies of his new book, a history of the Western & Atlantic Railroad, during a book signing in Acworth. DeFeo will appear from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Aug. 10 at the Acworth Bookstore in Acworth, Georgia. The state of Georgia chartered the Western & Atlantic in 1836 and still owns the railroad, which runs from Atlanta to Chattanooga. DeFeo, the owner of The DeFeo Groupe and editor of Railfanning.org, is also writing a book about the Memphis, Clarksville & Louisville Railroad, which publishes on Oct. 14. Federal money for streetcars formally presented

(Photo by Todd DeFeo) ATLANTA — Federal officials on Wednesday formally presented the city of Atlanta with $47.6 million to build a streetcar line. “The Atlanta streetcar project is a prime example of the kind of innovative, 21st century projects that will change the U.S. transportation landscape by strengthening the economy and creating jobs, reducing gridlock and providing safe, affordable and environmentally sustainable transportation choices,” U.S. Transportation Secretary LaHood said in a news release.
