Items on loan from the NPM include Owney tags, Railway Mail Service (RMS) badges, a railway mail sack, a railway mail-on-the-fly pouch and four Civil War envelopes (also known as “covers”).

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives last week passed a measure aimed at decreasing the sales of so-called “black market” cigarettes and cigars in Georgia. HB 1071, sponsored by state Rep. Penny Houston, R-Nashville, eliminates the lifetime license for retail sales of tobacco. Instead, the measure would, if signed into law, create a one-year license for tobacco merchants. State Rep. Imani Barnes, D-Tucker, expressed her support for the findings in a recently released report from the Georgia Department of Audits and Accounts, which aligns with the provisions of her proposed legislation, House Bill 914, also known as the Safe Teens Act.
