ATLANTA (defeo.biz) — The parade at the Gold Rush Festival was well under way when the crowd began to erupt in cheers.
With that the GOP float donning Donald Trump-Mike Pence campaign signs turned the corner and made its way through the town square in a city perhaps best known for a gold rush 170 years ago.
Shocking as it may seem, Trump, a brash New Yorker struck gold among voters in Georgia.
“I will say this: anyone who pretends to know what’s going to happen in November is probably delusional, really,” Randy Evans, a Georgia Republican National Committee member, said during an October Atlanta Press Club event. “I would doubt there’s anybody in this room that thought that Bernie Sanders would win 23 states or that Donald Trump would be the nominee.
“I think there’s probably no one in this room that would have thought Jeb Bush would drop out after South Carolina,” Evans added. “So, the moment anyone says to you on the street or on the news or wherever that they know where this election is going is just delusional.”
Should Trump lose to Democrat Hillary Clinton, it’s incredible to think a candidate who received overwhelmingly negative media coverage and little support from his party could even come so close. When the books are written about this election, will historians view it as a failed revolution?
