KENNESAW, Ga. — Kennesaw State junior defensive back Derrick Farrow has been named the Big South Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced today.
Farrow was a disruptive and dominating force during the Owls’ 58-7 victory over Edward Waters in Kennesaw State’s inaugural home game at Fifth Third Bank Stadium on Saturday (Sept. 12). The Cochran, Ga. native recorded a team-high five and three forced fumbles, including one that led directly to a touchdown and one that prevented a score.
With the Owls leading 38-0 early in the second quarter, Farrow jarred the ball loose from Edward Waters quarterback Dennis Jackson and freshman defensive lineman McKenzie Billingslea picked it up and ran 18 yards for a touchdown.
On consecutive plays in the third quarter, Farrow forced a fumble that Jackson recovered for no gain, and then on the next play, the Owls’ defensive back sprinted from the far side of the field to catch Edward Waters running back Ray Dukes after a 73-yard run and jarred him of the ball that was recovered by Raymone Jennings at the Kennesaw State 3-yard line.
