Southwest Airlines and Delta Airlines have reached an agreement that avoids a July 7 confrontation at Love Field in Dallas.
Delta’s lease of Love Field gates from Southwest was to expire on July 6. However, Delta was booking flights through May 2016, and Southwest has also started booking flights for after the lease expiration, assuming it would take over the gates starting July 7.
The sparring airlines reached an agreement after a conference call with U.S. District Judge Ed Kinkeade, the Dallas Morning News reported. Southwest will continue to lease the gates to Delta as the two airlines seek a permanent resolution.
“Delta is pleased that Southwest has agreed to continue accommodating the five flights Delta currently operates at Love Field while the airlines pursue a long-term resolution in the courts,” the Dallas Morning News quoted Delta spokeswoman Kate D. Modolo as saying.
