Wittenberg defeats Denison, 38-20

In Springfield, Ohio, Reed Florence three for 351 yards and four touchdowns as Wittenberg (4-1) defeated Denison University (4-2), 38-20. Brandon Sklenar completed 27 of 38 passes for 240 yards and a touchdown to lead Denison, but also threw a pair of interceptions.

Denison jumped to a 3-0 lead, but Wittenberg turned the tide, taking a 24-17 lead into halftime. The Big Red closed the gap to 24-20 in the third quarter, but could not manage to put any more points on the board.

“We had to fight through frustration,” the Springfield (Ohio) News-Sun quoted Wittenberg coach Joe Finchamas saying. “We played hard. We just made a lot of critical mistakes, especially in the first half. You keep putting yourself in third-and-bad, it’s hard.”
