EL AL Israel Airlines agrees to honor ‘reduced fare tickets’

EL AL Israel Airlines said it will honor cheap tickets that travelers bought Aug. 6 through a number of travel sites.

“Although a review of this occurrence has not been finalized, a decision was made to accommodate EL AL passengers who purchased these low fares because we value our reputation of offering excellent customer service,” EL AL Vice President/General Manager Danny Saadon said in a news release. “Hopefully, we have provided an opportunity to many first timers to visit Israel as well as reconnect family and friends.”

Passengers purchased tickets to Israel that includes a stopover in Europe in both directions. EL AL said it will offer nonstop round trip to Israel from New York (either JFK or Newark) for $75 more each way.

The airline said it will also offer a full refund without penalty to anyone wishing to cancel their tickets.

EL AL said the incorrectly priced tickets were only available for two hours on Aug. 6. Tickets were priced between $330 and $400 instead of the normal $1,000 to $1,600, USA Today reported.
