Curaçao has been selected as one of the ‘Top 21 Places We’re Going in 2011’ by Fodor’s, one of the ‘Hottest Destinations for 2011’ by AOL Travel and one of the ‘Destinations to Watch in 2011’ by SmarterTravel.
Curaçao also took home two awards from Scuba Diving magazine’s “Top 100 Gold List,” for the “Best Dive Operation” (Ocean Encounters) and for the “Best Dive Site” (Superior Producer).
“Curaçao is proud and honored to be on the top destination lists of three of the world’s most respected, trusted travel news sites and one of the world’s top diving magazines,” Curaçao Tourist Board Marketing Manager North America André Rojer said in a news release. “Travelers are excited about discovering exotic, off-the-radar destinations, such as Curaçao.
“Our new country status, hotel developments and increased airlift are helping to propel the island forward as an increasingly emerging destination for Americans,” Rojer added.
Curaçao – a UNESCO World Heritage site – became its own autonomous country, within the Kingdom of the Netherlands on Oct. 10, 2010.
