ORANJESTAD, Aruba — Nine-time Olympic Medalist Aleksandr Popov recently visited the Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino during a three-day trip to the island as an ambassador for a global organization that promotes world peace through sports competition.
While at the Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino, Popov was greeted by owner Eduardo de Veer and other staff. The Olympic champion stayed in a premium suite at the adult-exclusive Renaissance Marina Hotel and enjoyed dinner at L.G. Smith’s Steak & Chophouse.
Popov visited Aruba as an ambassador for the World Sport & Peace Foundation, an organization that encourages world peace through international sports competition. While on the island, Popov visited with the Aruba Dolphins, a local children’s swim and water polo team. The children had the opportunity to pose for photos with Popov and ask him about his athletic achievements.
While on Aruba, Popov also visited with the island’s Prime Minister, Nelson Oduber, and Governor, Freddis Refunjol, to discuss how sports play a significant role in world peace.
