New Jersey’s gas tax will rise by 2.6 cents on Jan. 1 because of a new law that raised revenue targets to pay for the state’s transportation infrastructure, Treasury officials announced Monday.

Senate Republican Leader Anthony M. Bucco wants local, state, and federal leaders to collaborate to address the state’s homelessness crisis and the lack of affordable housing options in the Garden State.

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority on Tuesday approved its $2.7 billion budget, which includes a 3% toll increase on both the Garden State Parkway and Turnpike, the fifth increase in four years.
