SMYRNA, Georgia — Smyrna is a quick getaway from Atlanta.
While not chock-full of attractions, it has enough to see and do to make it a worthy side trip. Plus, it has some great restaurants and watering holes to make it worth the time and gas money.

Rev has quickly grown into one of the Atlanta suburbs' most popular coffee shops. Hence its nickname: Brewin' in the 'Burbs. Don't sleep on the breakfast. For starters, try the ham and cheese croissant.

Smyrna has a unique history, and there is no better way to explore the community and its history than at the Smyrna Museum, which is located in a replica of the former train depot.

- The Corner Taqueria
The Corner Taqueria is a down-to-earth eatery with a menu described variously as Mexican, Mexican fusion, and Tex-Mex. Debate it if you must; just do it over a margarita.

- The Village Green
Smyrna officials love to tout the city's downtown redevelopment project from a few decades ago. Strolling the shops in downtown Smyrna's Smyrna Market Village is a nice way to relax. Pop into The Vineyard Wine Market or Stillfire Brewing to cool down. Check out the city's library or the large jonquil statue.

This is the crown jewel of Smyrna's eating and drinking establishments. The menu has no bad items; first-time diners can't go wrong with the burger. Be sure to walk through the freezer door to grab a drink at Eleanor's, a modern speakeasy.
