A state lawmaker is helping a private company find actors and actresses during an open casting call event for a trio of Savannah-based film projects.

The Georgia Department of Labor was poised to settle a lawsuit over the payment and processing of unemployment insurance benefits claims but sought to withdraw after the case’s plaintiffs disseminated a press release announcing the settlement.

A bipartisan group of Georgia lawmakers wants to ensure the Department of Defense runs “an open, value-based competition” when selecting “the next aerial refueling tanker to meet the National Defense Strategy.”
