Georgia lawmakers have passed legislation that ostensibly bans “foreign adversaries” from owning agricultural land or property near a military base or airport, but one expert said it’s not clear the measure can stand up to judicial scrutiny.

Legislation signed into law by Gov. Ron DeSantis on Thursday will make it easier for the state to purchase land for conservation purposes.

Last week, the Georgia Senate granted final passage to Senate Bill 10, which introduces measures to establish an offense for knowingly attending and facilitating illegal drag races and to heighten penalties for reckless driving.
