Overview
Point Park is a 10-acre memorial park on Lookout Mountain overlooking Chattanooga, Tennessee, and the Lookout Mountain Battlefield. The park preserves part of the landscape associated with the Civil War battles for Chattanooga and includes historic tablets, monuments, Confederate artillery positions and scenic overlooks connected by a paved walking path.
The park’s largest monument is the New York Peace Memorial, erected by the state of New York to commemorate reconciliation between Union and Confederate veterans after the Civil War. Near Lookout Mountain is the Ochs Memorial Observatory, which features exhibits on Civil War signaling, photography and nearby Moccasin Bend.
