Book of Kells Experience

Overview

The Book of Kells Experience is a visitor attraction at Trinity College Dublin centered on the Book of Kells and the university’s Old Library.

The Book of Kells is an illustrated manuscript containing the four Gospels of the New Testament in Latin, along with additional texts and tables. It is believed to have been created around 800 in a Columban monastery in Ireland or Scotland.

Visitors to the experience can view the Book of Kells before entering the Long Room of the Old Library. The manuscript, sometimes known as the Book of Columba, is held by the Library of Trinity College Dublin and is regarded as one of the university’s principal cultural treasures.
