The Grand York

Overview

The Grand York is a five-star hotel in York, England, occupying the former headquarters of the North Eastern Railway. The Grade II-listed Edwardian building was constructed between 1900 and 1906, with North Eastern Railway architect William Bell responsible for its basic structural design and Horace Field contributing to its exterior and interior design.

The building served as the headquarters of the North Eastern Railway, then one of Britain’s largest railway companies. It was purchased by the Cedar Court Group in 2007 and converted into a hotel, opening in 2010 as the Cedar Court Grand Hotel & Spa.

Original features include marble interiors, oak-paneled rooms and the Grand Boardroom. Splendid Hospitality Group acquired the property in 2014 and renovated and expanded it in 2017 and 2018.
