Dublin’s EPIC museum to be featured on documentary series

DUBLIN — A museum that aims to inspire global audiences with a deeper understanding of Irish identity and culture has been featured in a documentary series.

Filmed at the EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum in Dublin’s Docklands, the episode of “World’s Greatest!” on Bloomberg Television will take viewers behind the scenes to highlight the museum’s immersive storytelling, interactive technology and recently upgraded front vault galleries. The documentary series, which has aired for 20 years, profiles organizations, destinations and businesses that have demonstrated excellence in their fields.

The program also will feature EPIC’s Irish Family History Centre, where visitors can research their ancestry and explore connections to Ireland. More than 70 million people worldwide claim Irish ancestry, making genealogy an increasingly important part of Ireland’s tourism sector.

The documentary includes interviews with EPIC employees, museum visitors and founder Neville Isdell, a former chairman and CEO of Coca-Cola. It also includes a visitor testimonial illustrating the emotional impact of exploring Ireland’s emigration history.

EPIC opened in Dublin’s CHQ Building a decade ago and was named Europe’s Leading Tourist Attraction at the World Travel Awards in 2019, 2020 and 2021. It aims to tell the stories of Irish emigrants and their influence around the world. Its interactive galleries use touch screens, motion-sensor quizzes, audio and video to explore Ireland’s emigration history and global diaspora.

The documentary aired on Saturday, July 18, on Bloomberg TV and will air again on Saturday, July 25.
