Marietta History Center announces two Marietta City Cemetery walking tours

MARIETTA, Georgia — The Marietta History Center will offer two guided walking tours this spring at the Marietta City Cemetery, an 1830s-era burial ground that preserves generations of local history.

The tours will be led by Christa McCay, collections manager at the Marietta History Center, and will focus on themed snapshots of the people and stories connected to the cemetery.

The first tour, “After the Revolution: Born in America,” is scheduled for Saturday, April 25, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. A second tour, “Between Heaven & Earth: Marietta’s Early Ministers,” is set for Saturday, May 2, from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

Both tours will be held rain or shine at Marietta City Cemetery, located at 420 W. Atlanta St. in Marietta. Organizers said routes include gravel and uneven ground and recommended comfortable footwear and appropriate attire. Refunds will be issued only if the Marietta History Center cancels a tour.

Tickets cost $15, with a $7 rate for Marietta History Center members. Capacity is limited to 26 people per tour. Tickets are available through the Marietta History Center’s online store, with information posted at MariettaHistory.org. For details, call 770-794-5710.
