Christchurch Airport has introduced ticketless parking across its five car parks, using licence plate recognition to automate entry and exit.
Drivers now pull up to the barrier, and it raises automatically, with the plate serving as the “ticket.” Payment can be made by tapping at the exit or by entering a licence plate at a pay machine, with QR code payment coming soon.
Airport officials say the change is designed to speed up access and simplify the process. Customers who encounter a barrier issue are advised to press the help button for assistance.
