Weather Service: River flood advisory for the Cumberland River at Clarksville issued

The U.S. National Weather Service in Nashville, Tennessee, has issued a river flood advisory for the Cumberland River at Clarksville, starting at 7:27 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 16.

The advisory will continue until further notice, as forecasters predict excessive rainfall could lead to significant flooding.

The Cumberland River at Clarksville measured 35.4 feet at 11 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13. On Sunday morning, it is expected to rise above flood stage (46 feet) and reach a crest of 50 feet early Monday morning.

Flooding will impact agricultural areas, industrial zones, and commercial properties along the river at this level. The Cumberland Riverwalk and nearby tributaries will also be affected.

Riverside Drive near State Highway 48, Providence Boulevard, Cumberland Drive, and McClure Street is expected to flood. Other locations, including Quarry Road, Kraft Street, Zinc Plant Road, Salem Road, and Seven Mile Ferry Road, will likely experience high water levels. Athletic fields near Greenland Farms Drive and properties on Branch Road could also see rising waters.

In addition to the River Flood Advisory, a Flood Watch remains in effect for all of Middle Tennessee, including Clarksville, beginning late Friday night, Feb. 14, 2025, and continuing through noon on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2025.
